Chance meetings of like-minded enthusiasts at the track have led to more friendships and opportunities than I ever could have imagined when I set out on the crazy path this hobby takes us on. Which is where I met Kyle Wilder, the organizing force behind Cory's Race. For Kyle, the decision to get involved in the Race to End ALS was personal, after losing his friend and colleague to the disease when he had so much life left in front of him. Race to End ALS was started in the east by Scott Lloyd, in an effort to raise funds for ALS research and in hopes of developing a cure for his brother Dave. Some of you may have seen or heard about Dave's Race, held the last 3 years at VIR. Cory's Race is the inaugural event for Race to End ALS on the West Coast, and I'm thrilled to be a part of it. Click on the link above to learn more about the story of Race to End ALS.

So how this event works. Kyle worked out the logistics of an HPDE style track day with Willow Springs raceway. From there, drivers could apply to participate in the track day event. You can buy your way in for $325 or choose to fundraise and with the help of others, push towards the overall goal of the event. There are a few other TMO members that have also been selected to drive. @Oxford5pointoh has raised an astounding $2,000 through his Instagram following, and @trmkars is not far behind at $1,400! I look forward to seeing TMO Member's pictures and updates on this event page.

If you're in SoCal and would like to participate to drive the event, there's still spots available.

If you can't make it July 9th but feel inclined to support the cause, donations can be made through this link: https://fundraise.als.net/fundraiser/500189
I will match any contributions made through my fundraising page!

Donations go directly to ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI) and their mission to discover and develop effective treatments for ALS.

Thanks for taking the time to read through this unique event, now let's go have some fun with cars!!

Willow Springs International Motor sports Park is a 600-acre complex of eight racetracks embracing nearly every conceivable motor sports discipline. The park is located about an hour north of Los Angeles, California near Lancaster.

Willow Springs International Raceway is a super-fast 2.5-mile / nine-turn road racing circuit, patterned after the great courses and road racing traditions of Europe, and is unchanged from its original 1953 configuration. With substantial elevation changes and high average speeds, Willow Springs has become one of the fastest and most challenging tracks in the U.S.

The main track at Willow Springs Raceway, informally called the “Big Willow”, is a 2.5 mile road course that consists of 9 turns. The layout is built for speed, but combines speed with turns and elevation changes to offer a unique challenge. It is possible for a capable car or motorcycle to exceed 160mph on the front straightway.
