@Bill - Yep, I had a chance to hit INDE last Friday. Super fun track with minimal traffic on the weekday. Track was resurfaced and it was amazing...Never done an event where my tires were free of rocks and debris at the end of the day.BTW, I ran the new tires in the front. They seemed to...
Thanks guys...headed out the door now, so I will make it a game-time decision.3- Mile track - It will be my first time on this particular track.
Square setup 275/40/18
Wear is pretty even on the old set. I rotated often
Hi AllI'm hitting the track tomorrow for a 1/2 day HPDE session (3-4 20 minutes session) and had a quick question on my tire setup.I had to replace a tire from a puncture, so I got two new NT01's and my others pair is around 60%-ish worn. The shoulders on the old pair are worn down a bit...
Thanks for the replies and advice. I'll be doing the doing the 2-tire route. I figured the plug\patch route was not advisable, but thought I'd ask the question since this is my first punctured track tire.On a side note, I was pretty amazed how well the NT01 stayed inflated. Since I has...
Hi AllMy last track outing left me with a punctured tire after hitting a 6" bolt in the left rear tire, cleanly in the center tread. I have 275/40/18 Nitto NT01 with about 40-50% of their life left. What are thoughts on:
1 - Patch the tire (inside and out) and call it good
2 - Buy two new...
3 bottles of Motul is a starting point...you may have a little left over. I alway get an extra bottle for 'topping off' or doing a quick swap of the tank fluid between full flushes. Flush until it's clear and no bubbles on all 4 corners.
I did a full Brembo rebuild with SS pistons, high-temp dust seals, in addition to poly coated SS brake lines, 2-piece Girodisc rotors, G-Loc GS-1 (Street)/G-Loc R-12 (Track). Made a pretty big difference doing a full overhaul, but lots of factors probably contributed. Made for a fun summer...
Buy quality 'speed bleeders' and problem solved. As much as I liked my pressure bleeder system, once I put speed bleeders on it made the process much quicker, less messy and no issue with getting air into the system.
I flush the brake fluid before every event (2-3 per year)...Probably overkill, but I have seen people boil fluid and I don't want to be in the position. Flushing a few times a year with speed bleeders or a Motive pump is cheap insurance.
I've had a DSS Aluminum on my 2011 GT500 for about 2 years now an I absolutely love it. Cleaned up some noise and the acceleration responsiveness is much nicer...way less mass to rotate on the driveline. One of my favorite mods for street and track applications.
Overkill upgrade at this stage, IMHO...if you have never tracked, give it a try on what you have for a few sessions (2-4 times). When you get frustrated at the lack of stopping power, upgrade your pads for a few hundred bucks. If still enjoy the experience (many stop at this stage) and feel...
Well put...with 4-5 track sessions and as you start pushing the car\tires, they will wear out quick. Getting a quality set of CC plates and a dedicated set of track wheel and tires is the only way to go. I was there a few years ago and just couldn't keep shelling out $$ as my street tires got...
Since we are on the subject...Most of the contamination (fluid turning dark) I was getting in my brake fluid reservoir was coming from the clutch line. Once I separated the clutch fluid into a separate reservoir, the color of the brake fluid remained pretty consistent over the months, very...
Great product and very durable. I have some slight divots when I had a little too much weight on an edge. When set up square under the wheels, they hold up my '11 with confidence.
