A couple months ago I purchased MP0011. Soon there after I started scouring data for preproduction 2012’s. This is the data I have compiled so far from various sources, mostly on this site. Some of the data is incomplete due to the source either stating plate number/VIN/color or some portion of the three. Sometimes I would just happen to see an intake/engine photo with no reference to the car color.
It is entirely possible this list has been compiled before by someone (PTRocks) and I haven’t found it yet. If so, I hope someone can point me in the direction of it. If not, hopefully someone can help me filling in some of the missing holes and correcting errors?Especially in the MP cars.

MP?? #199982 Grabber Blue JDRF charity auction car.
Missing information on MP003, 9, 10, 14, 17, 20, 21, 22, 24, 25, 28, 29, 31, 35, 40, 41 and 43. One of these are the JDRF car.

Is it possible that there are only 5 PP cars that sold to the public? And is it possible that this is the total amount of MP cars that were sold to the public?

Is there a list of differences between the PP, MP cars and the actual production vehicles? Such as “x” is painted a different color, “x” is hand built, “x” had an improvement etc. For instance, the recaro seats have a slight issue around the plastic bezel due to not enough fabric. That was an early production issue.
Thanks!

Search out member "PP0001" (Harry). He is by the far the most knowledgeable person around when it comes to the early build Bosses. He has owned numerous of those cars and knows the histories of many more. Plus, he is a great guy.

Hello. Im replying very late to this post.
Ive owned 6 pre production boss 302's over the last 6 years.
4 -2012 MP and 2 - 2013 PP .
Here are the 4 MP's I've owned.

Mp0038 kona blue. Vin 199959 non recaro.

MP0037 vin 199981 silver LS
This LS was featured in the boss 302 book by Donald Farr.

MP0032. VIN 199938 race red.
This one had the rear sway bar mounted upside down.

MP0015 VIN 199944 CO

MP0043 is white. Owned by a friend.
Not sure of the vin.

Each car I owned had different notes and what appeared to be hand written part numbers on the underside of the car.
All were in excellent shape!
I regret selling the LS!

There are a lot of small differences in the build of these compared to the regular production.
Tail pipes can have a dull finish, not polished.
The track key engine enabled vs track key idle enabled reading in the dash.
The cast in the wheels are slightly different. And so on....

I owned 2 of 2013 PP.
SBY VIN 199809 PP0013
SBY VIN 199810 PP0014.

Let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you,
Bryan.

Thanks for the extra information! I’m still searching for information on these vehicles.

I’ve seen photos and information on MP0037 and MP0038. MP0038 is supposed to be in the Donald far book as well.

I had read about the dull/polished tips. It’s tough for me to say if MP0011 (VIN 199931) has dull exhaust or not as I don’t have another to compare it to. I’ll have to look at some local ones. They are duller than my fox body and definitely duller than my 08 Bullitt.

I have also seen some photos of very early cars with tribar centercaps. In particular, the initial press release photos.

Noticed there are two different side pipes too. Some have a longer flex pipe than the others

From what ive seen. The mp cars used the same center caps as the regular production. I think the pictures of the ones with different center caps were TT cars. Those never made it to the public.
I also noticed that the TT cars had black paint inside the engine compartment regardless of the body color.

I have also noticed the PCV hoses have black labels on the 2012 preproduction units as opposed to blue on the production ones.
I presume this was a 2012 change MY change. 2011 5.0 got the black labels.

Yes, it was purchased in Texas. The second owner had it for quite some time in Iowa. I am in Houston. It went to a loving home.

I wasn’t particularly looking for an MP car when I stumbled on this one. I had just been looking for one that fit my criteria. 100% stock, relatively close by (this was ~150miles away), below 30k mileage, etc.
I noticed the 199xxx VIN and asked them to send a photo of the intake plate and sure enough it was an MP. It was a Cadillac dealership and it had been on their lot for about 30 days so I was about negotiate them down a bit.

Thanks for this list. I'll have to look. I have notes on one of the red MP cars not on your list. I was going to buy it but it was not in good shape.

Now we need to start a list for the 2013's.
