I started getting high intake temps in the Shelby, so I sourced an intake that actually isolated the filter instead of just the crappy piece of aluminum. I then covered it with the " gold" insulation film. It seems to have solved the issue
Yeah, this had a little intake duct opening right behind the radiator feeding it with hot air so I finally ducted it to the grill. Been on my to do list since day one. The Cj air box is meant to be used on a later s197 and the stock snorkel piece didn’t fit my car so I did what I had to do.

Since I can't weld to save my self, am counting the days for my 3D printer to arrive. Will have to do the same thing as you have done but in plastic.
The stock snorkel should fit your car, no?

No, unfortunalty the stock snorkel did not fit well with the older version of the JLT CAI I have. I think they have a newer version that is better.
