Inside The Mustang's New 10 Speed Transmission

It seems like we've been hearing about this FOREVER but we're getting closer. With some luck we might see this in the 2017 cars.

FWIW the 0-60 acceleration difference between a BMW 328I and Fusion both with 2.0 Turbo engines is over a second and the difference is mostly the 8 speed ZF trans in the BMW. This should close that gap completely. Imagine a 240 HP Fusion doing 0-60 in 5.5 seconds on the way to the grocery store! I can't wait. 8)

coming from my Fusion frame of reference, which is my Fusion Energi, that's hard to imagine. ;-)
I do dig the silent cruising of the Energi...along with the CVT when in hybrid mode. It's a pretty cool vehicle really...and the Fusion platform is a great-riding vehicle. (the green carpool stickers on it don't hurt, either)
My wife's '15 Edge Sport, also built on the Fusion platform, is a great package...that 2.7l ecoboost has some serious kick. I could see a Fusion 'ST' with 4wd and that motor...that would be a nice ride.
