I recently acquired a ‘95 Mustang Cobra that I’m planning to run in HSR and track days. I’m new to SN95’s so it’s a learning curve for me. I’ve removed the belt to isolate the accessories. Noise seems to be coming from the left valve cover area. Hoping is not internal or major but prepared to deal with whatever is needed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Folks -

My apologies for the delayed response!! I’ve been really busy with work lately and haven’t had a chance to check in to my favorite forum!

Yes, I found the problem. The previous owner had incorrect bolts installed on the headers. The bolts slowly backed out and blew the header gaskets. This was causing a major exhaust leak. Replaced both header gaskets and installed bolts with locking washers. Engine now sounds normal and smooth. Very thankful it wasn’t internal.

Again my apologies in the late response!

Cheers,

Nick
