Weight reduction

OK, I know we have a 3600+ lb car so small weight savings take a while to add up. However, the relatively minor changes I've made (especially for track days) seem to have made an arguably significant dent.

Enkei PF01 wheels/Hoosier R6 295/315:
Front 60 street vs 45 - 15 lbs each x 2 = -30 lbs
Rear 58 street vs 49.2 - 9 lbs each x 2 = -18 lbs
Corsa Extreme axle backs (pair) 54 lbs stock vs 24 lbs = -30 lbs
Kooks Off-Road H-pipe 32 lbs stock vs 17 lbs = -15 lbs
Side pipe delete 5.5 lbs each = -11 lbs
Kooks LT headers vs stock manifolds = + 3lbs
Roll bar, mounts & harness bar +69 lbs.
Rear seat delete kit +12 lbs.
Remove rear seats and belts and factory mounts -54 lbs
Swap to the Tiger Hood -17 lbs
Remove washer bottle incl fluid -8 lbs
Remove flat repair kit -5 lbs
Sparco race seat 35lbs versus stock seat 46lbs = -11 lbs
302S tow hooks +2 lbs
FRPP air-to-oil cooler +8 lbs
1-pc DSS aluminum driveshaft vs stock -21 lbs
DS saftey loop +10 lbs
Trunk liner -7 lbs
Passenger seat -46 lbs (track only)
Watts link versus panhard bar +15 lbs
Rear axle weights -5 lbs
Battery relocation kit +25 lbs
Remove A/C condenser, compressor, lines and belt -21 lbs.

Total weight savings so far is 116 lbs with passenger seat and 162 without it.

With a curb weight of 3630, I'm at 3514 to 3468 with or without the passenger seat.

removing fuel tank evaporative system under spare tire well is worth 20lbs.
I am told that this will not create code errors if the vents are re-connected instead of running through the evap unit but have not tried it yet myself.
(good place to remove weight)

I was thinking of this but am not sure it won't cause issues with OBD II. I was thinking of using the space for a rear axle cooler setup. Let us know what is involved with removal.

Can anyone think of a reason not to pull my passenger seat on track days? It would drop 46 additional pounds. Most clubs don't allow passengers and those that do generally require the same restraints as the driver. My Sparco race seat weighs 35 lbs so it saves 11 lbs. (less the harnesses).

would it throw of the weight distribution left to right?

The battery is on the passenger side, I think it's fine. ;D

LOL done! I need to get this pig on a scale when it's in track trim one of these days. I wonder if they have one active at Road America? They have one at BIR but it's never been turned on when I've been there.

Are there any race or TT groups when you go? They would have a set of scales in the impound and in my experience they will let you roll up on them when nobody is getting inspected if you ask nicely.

worst case stop by your local drag strip and use their scale, or a ttruck stop.

Gary,
I'm pretty sure the Flying J truck stop across from the Harley dealer just off I-29 on hwy 38 has a scale. Or find a farm elevator--maybe over in Brandon.

lightweight seats are a great place to save some weight...not having the pass seat in is even better.
it's why I'm holding onto a set of super lightweight seats I found a couple years ago for an 'are-you-kidding-me' price. they're ridiculously expensive otherwise. they're made by Cobra - out of the UK - Suzuka Technology 'S' seats covered in alcantara and 'outlast' fabric covering - super comfy and 'sex on wheels' looks.

http://www.subesports.com/products/cat/Seats/brand/Cobra/prodID/659

the seats themselves are a nearly-unbelievable 14.5lbs with the cushions in them - no hardware.

Gary - what seat mounting hardware are you running? I ask because the cobra seats typically run on sparco hardware.

Yes I am using a Sparco seat mount and slider.
