Hey everyone! I will try and make this short and sweet, I currently own a 2012 mustang GT that I autocross that I have modified quite a bit. If you want more info most if its documented in my build thread for the car. I work for a GM/Chrysler dealership and we recently took in a 2018 S550 GT premium PP1. I normally would be all over this car because its orange and a 6 speed but there is one thing I'm not so sure about.....Its supercharged. Car has a nice Vortex V3 kit on it and was dyno 'ed around 700HP. The other really nice thing about the car is someone had a Tremec T-56 swap done as well. but the rest of the car is bone stock though so i will be starting over building a competitive car. It wouldn't change my class as I already run Cam-C. But I am afraid that will just be too much power for that type of racing. I also cant keep both car unfortunately. what do you guys think?

I just had my '18 Roush with a 750hp tune out autocrossing this weekend. It's got the Roush/K&W adjustable coilover kit on it and 305/30-19 RT660s all the way around, otherwise the suspension is factory PP1. Where I usually run is pretty tight and I rarely hit full throttle with it. You have to really modulate the throttle, as opposed to my '08 Bullitt that sees full throttle a lot. It can be quite a handful, but the reward is a whole lotta fun. Without big tires (305 or 315) you'll just be spinning the tires and looping the car (or going slow trying to avoid it). I've been running both the Roush and Bullitt this year and for several reasons the Roush is WAY faster (mostly HP and tires). One other consideration is whether you're going to do HPDE stuff with it. I am finally getting fast enough that heat is becoming a problem. During an autocross it's never been an issue that I'm aware of. If you have really tight courses then you might find it frustrating. I've had times when I was never able to hit full throttle. On larger courses (like Lincoln, NE) the HP can definitely come in handy. I'd say go for it, but remember that big, sticky tires are pretty much mandatory.

The tire thing is fresh in my head because I just switched from 3 year old RT660s to fresh ones. The old ones had been through 4 track events (each one was 3-5 20 minute sessions over 2 days) and numerous autocrosses. They were well beyond their useful life, but I had a hard time getting rid of tires that still had some tread. What happened this weekend made me glad I finally broke down and changed them.

Tough question but there are quite a few CAMC racers on this site and honestly my first reaction is caution as power without other mods does not always spell success. I have to admit I like the T-56 swap , but I would have preferred a recent T 3160 swap a bit more as it is an easier change and some of the mods make me question. You will get more learned questions from others , but like any modded machine , trend with caution till you have very solid information.

Tires really limit how much power you can put down - especially in CAM-C - and then this just becomes a weight adder with 200TW tire. I'd also look at what gearing that T56 has with the wheel tire you would run - realistic choices are 295/35R18 or 315/30R18 (25-26" diameter, 18x11 or wider wheel, you'd have to cut fenders for anything wider than 11" I believe) or 305/30R19 on 19x11" wheel (26.x" tire diameter). With stock MT-82D4 and 3.73 rear end which this car has it gives you 68-72 mph top speed in 2nd gear.

You can do alot with an 18 inch wheel and many folks are running 315s with cars like yours and there is no need to cut fenders or anything ---- just wheels with the right offset and some 25mm spacers up front. Some may have had to roll the fenders but I have not had to do that on any of the Boss Mustangs I had. The trick rubber right now still seems to be the A052 Yoke or the RE71RS Bridgestone, though some are looking into the Nankang ( there was a DOT snafu and a bunch were not let into to the US Ports ) CR-S but you need to catch a fresh batch with them.

RT660 is a notch down , but good for road course and cone killing , as they seem to last a bit longer than the Bridgerocks or Yokes , though folks are saying the Nankangs ( Taiwan ) are longer lasting also.
