Looking at it through the eyes of a machinist and heating treating as far as metals are concerned, it made sense. But to be honest, most of the conversation was a bit over my rudimentary understanding of tires and their construction. He seemed to think it does, or at least thats what I came away...
Got into a conversation with a tire rep from Continental trying to decide on what tire to run when I start doing HPDE's. He asked if I was going to order from tire rack which I told him I was going to. He then started talking about the benefits of having them heat cycle the tire. As I was...
Thought I would update this post. I decided to keep my Boss. Maybe S550's are faster, maybe not. There is just something about this car I cant let go of. I have gone to a few autocross events since making this post and I have walked away from all of them with a huge smile on my face. Sorry for...
Thank you all very much for the replies. Sorry I havent really responded as I am on the Hot Rod Power Tour and havent had much down time. I have had such a blast in the car this week it will take alot for this guy to buy it from me, like more than the car is really worth. If he just has to have...
I had not really considered Mach 1 because of how high prices for them were around here. That would be something I could definitely get behind doing though. Besides wheels and aero, does the track pack version really matter?
I tried to sell my Boss a few months ago to buy a friends S550 but due to the horrible experience of dealing with so called prospective buyers and then my wife finding a house she wanted I put this on the back burner. However, I accidentally left up the autotrader add and have somebody really...
Thanks Dave, I will skip the pyrometer and go buy a water sprayer instead. They were definately warm to the touch approaching uncomfortable. The way they felt to the touch was how my Rivals did when they worked the best, which I am going to assume is to hot. And its only going to get warmer from...
The tire psi was taken before and after each run. I logged the psi before each run and then after. The biggest change in pressure was about 3 psi on the first run. The 31 front and 30 rear set before my final run. I was so frustrated after the run I drove straight back to paddock and never took...
After sleeping on it and reviewing the one run that actually recorded I think you are correct and I was over driving them. Still curious as to wether I am leaving any time on the table with my suspension settings. I kind of just took a guess at where I thought they should be when I first started...
I am looking for some help with shock settings and tire pressures for my 2013 Boss. I am still fairly new to autocrossing and have been running the same Rivals for the past 2 years. I was trying to make them last for as long as I could just to eliminate a variable while I learned. At the event...
To bluntly answer your question, if your gen 1 coyote is stock it will not handle 30lbs of boost. Rods in the gen 1 are the weak spot. It is generally accepted that 700ish HP is limit of the engine, thats around 12-14lbs of boost. The good news is, you dont need anywhere near 30lbs of boost to...
