Firstly, the notion that the 2015 V8 Mustang is going to lose 400lbs is preposterous, that would make the car lighter than a 911, lighter than a C7 Corvette and nearly the same weight as McLaren MP4-12C.As to these pictures, the first one, which shows the frontend and helmeted driver, it seems...
Re: Auto-Blip Install and Instruction InformationI was over at the Auto-Blip site reading the install instructions and I'm surprised all of this can't be done in the ECU. The engine computer is already reading (and recording) the brake, clutch and throttle data.
Given that the new EU pedestrian safety regs won't allow sufficient under hood space for a supercharger (that's what I've read) the 2013-14 GT500 could prove to be the muscle car highwater mark.
It's not raw materials cost that's the problem, aluminium is not some magic pixie dust that makes everything lighter. There's no shortage of cars that either use aluminum in their construction or are made entirely of aluminium. Nearly all of them weigh the same or more than the current Mustang...
The C7 has actually gained weight over the outgoing C6 despite the base car going to an aluminum chassis. I think we can agree that the 2015 Mustang will still be made primarily of steel. Even, the new Jag F-Type, which is made of aluminum, weighs 3600 lb. There's a reason no one makes a 3300...
There's no way the Mustang will lose 300 or even 200lbs. Consider, a McLaren MP4-12C weights 3200lbs, a 300lbs weight loss would mean it weighs only 100lbs more than a $250,000, fully carbon fiber supercar made by a formula 1 team. I don't think so.
Disregard what the web site and mailed packet say, you CAN wear shorts. I went last August and didn't wear shorts, LIKE THEY TOLD ME, and I sweated like a piece of rancid pork.
Race fans in GA will have two chances to see the CTSCC in April at Barber and Road Atlanta. They're about the same distance for me. Anyone thinking about going to either?
Mustang wins! I watched the race on speed2, it was great watching the Rousch Mustangs work their way past the Camaros (Boo!) and the the Astons (Yeah!) Fantastic race.
It's your money, but you don't need brembo brakes, adjustable shocks and forged internals if you're just going to sit next to it in a lawn chair at the cruise in. The extra money you're paying over a standard GT is so it can withstand the rigors of a day at the track. The only reason I bought...
Absolutely. The car was built to be a track day toy. I can't imagine why anyone would buy one if they had no intentions to track it now and again. If I wanted a sporty, daily driver, I'd get a Focus ST or similar. The Boss 302 is enormous overkill if you're never going to track the car...
