All of these are spot on suggestions and advice for sure, seat time is really really really critical to progress your confidence! I have always suggested learning the physics of driving the track whether racing or track days, the book below is a great reference tool while your at home pondering...
While your'e in there you may want to add a updated pulse ring as well Ford Performance PN 12A227- about a $100 - not saying you need to tune the Boss but if you ever want to you'll be glad you had this part installed - search around here for the reasoning. Also I went with the RST as well as...
Mathew - East Bay here- are those the oem tires or a replacement set? I ask as my oem's are still in garage but looking to replace with a fresher set -Thanks Dave
+1 with Voodoo on the whine - 2/3/4/5 gears and syncro's and all I felt was a bit of notchiness up-shifting with the stock shifter with Blowfish bracket - but then it started to make noise like a throwout bearing going = rebuilt trans. Also have them check the pinion bearings for excess end play...
+1 - As do the stock rotors - I track 8 to 10 days a year and abuse the 302's brakes pretty hard. I too considered the 6 pot upgrade but I run 18's and the clearance would be very tight- I was concerned more about heat soak of the entire system with the larger diameter and tight clearances, so...
Here's a few times - seasons over this year and time to review !Stock '13 Boss - Goodrich RivalsThunderhill 5mile Bypass Oct 16 - 3.26.44
Sonoma Nov 27 - 2.01.91
Laguna Seca Dec 4 - 1.48.042016 will feature the Nitto's and hopefully better times!
Having my rear diff overhauled now - lost pinion bearing and ring, pinion gear due to the bad bearing causing lash issues. Seems that under high load (track regularly but no drag racing) the sleeve that provides the pre-load on the pinon continues to crush beyond it's limits and overloads the...
+1
Slotted rotors are typically not "turnable" due to the slots that can cause chip out or skipping on a brake lath - blanchard grinding (google it) is the only way to turn slotted or drilled rotors safely, but like Flyboygsxr stated not recommended for track rotors - rotors are just part the...
Well called my dealer and they have one allocated - 2016- have a MSRP price commitment so now it's decision time - run down and order the '16, base with track pack or wait it out and think it over - Boss would need to go. Anyone know what kind of production numbers these are going to have? I'm...
My Rival's have the exact same issue - BFG has a service bulletin -think you can find it at Tire Rack- explaining the issue and that is does not affect the tire or performance. I've run mine pretty hard for 9 track days and no problems.
I run the Pagid RST2's with a dedicated set of track only rotors in the front- I just bought oem Ford rotors , I think 85/90 or so each and have gone through 2 sets of the RST's in the front and the rotors while heat checked, have virtually no wear. I just throw the new set in and bed them in...
