Looks like you’ll be doing a shakedown with me at slb

Man, I wish. I found out this week that the tuner won't be able to get the car on the rollers until mid april :(

Congratulations on all this coming together. Very exciting. Clean, well planned and executed work. And wow on the corner weights! I love it! It’s going to be such a joy how nimble the car will feel. If it’s important beyond the fun you’re going to have, you may have one of the fastest S550 chassis around a circuit in the world.
thanks! I am hoping it's quick - will be very upset if it's not. ha Hopefully we'll know in a couple months!

Made some progress last night

I am officially a steel-it fan boy. This stuff goes on soooooo good. Very forgiving - just not for your bank account.

15 cans covered the roll cage, complete underside (including wheel wells), and engine bay. Ordered another 12 to finish interior. Hoping to finish up the painting this weekend.
Hey Kevin, did you media blast the roll cage tubes to prep for the Steel-It? Does the Steel-It require a primer coat, or direct to metal?

No primer coat - bare metal everywhere I could. If over original paint/primer, I roughed it up with the toughest scotchbrite pad I could.

For the cage, I just scrubbed it down real road with a scotchbrite pad and then cleaned with acetone. Worked great so far - no chips on the cage!

I’ve used steel it in plant service work for decades.
Covers nice and is very durable.
Not much prep needed.
Never thought of using in race car stuff though….good call.

Saw the pic of the sim setup over on Tony’s thread. Very nice Kevin and you got your pooch on your 9 for security !!
The sim has been such a good investment. I was telling Tony - I've spent the last year driving GT3 and GT4 cars with all the traction control turned off to really dial in my reflexes and smooth out my inputs. It's really helped improve my confidence and should help me be more comfortable in the car once I get back on track

You know, I probably already commented this earlier in the thread, I apologize if I did. I’m old and I forget things now more than ever. On the bright side, if I posted it twice, you know I meant it. If I didn’t post it twice…..never mind.

Move along, nothing to see here. :banghead:

If it makes you feel any better, I don't remember you commenting on it before. So all is good from my end :D

Thank you though. I ordered one.
Oh Jesus, what do I have to buy now?
I just have like a 2 pound hand held fire extinguisher in my race car.

Kevin,

Remind me what Fire system again? I need to order mine this week.
I just installed this one https://competitionmotorsport.com/c...zero-360-fia-3-0kg-novec-1230-electric-system

Electrically triggered - can put buttons to trigger any where - only two wires. Super easy install and this foam won't corrode your interior/engine bay and ruin everything if you need to deploy.

I also added this to trigger if I am ever passed out and the car is burning https://www.bimmerworld.com/Safety-...feline-Protectowire-Heat-Detection-Cable.html

I'm surprised you don't have to have a fully plumbed system. Tony is right - we're all being divas. Ha
