I never saw this coming ... I must be living under a rock. What happened to ICE being phased out? ;) :D

1064 HP TT 5.5L Flat plane crank animal.

A fun topic for gear heads!

I can remember when Vettes were a step or two above a Camaro but now they're light yrs away, especially since Camaros are out of production. The question starts to appear.....How far do you want to go with HP and performance...............Some may say "give me all you got!!!"...........I say 444 (Boss) HP is enough for me....I'm not greedy and I don't want to handle any more, Thank you!................Vettes are moving up to super car status, if they're not there already.....................................ArizonaBoss..........you know......................

Anything the Mustang GTD can do, we can do better...

There are conversations on other boards as to GTD vs ZR1 but I'm not sure we know enough about either car to draw any conclusions.

The ZR1 should be a rocket in a straight line, but with the weight and suspension advantage going to the GTD in the corners. Will cornering speeds be enough to make up for that HP is the question.

I remember a similar debate going back to the 2014 GT500 with 662hp, which was massive at the time. That HP doesn't always equate to better lap times unless you can put that power to the ground. Mid engine advantage for sure vs GT500 of old, but will that be enough.

I know one thing for sure, I hope whoever tracks these ZR1's brings extra jerry cans and brake pads.

Should be a fun debate in the mean time.

In my experience, this is pretty typical of the majority of Corvette drivers anyway.

This time around I suspect it will handle very well. Mid engine and all that stuff. Would be more worried about a flat plane with such a big displacement engine spinning at 8000rpm. Does not sound like a recipe for a long lasting engine. Would love to be wrong.

I would bet anything that GM have programmed this car to only bring in full power once the car has reached a certain speed, is in a certain gear and above, and possibly GPS based... like when it knows it's on a racetrack. The guys over at Fueltech were talking about how complex the ECM is for the regular C8. For sure there will be a bunch of these ripping huge mph down the Texas Interstates and posting all over YouTube ("lookat meeeee" yeah you're a deutschbag) then wrapping them around light poles and such. Keep it on the track! I would love to see the Z06 and the ZR1 in the hands of capable drivers at NCM driving in full anger.

Yeah, Marry Barra said they will not achieve their BEV goals and they are throttling back... just like Audi recently said and Porsche.

I highly doubt the GTD will hold a candle to this thing.
