As some of you know, I've started the Tire Guy Mafia ( https://www.tireguymafia.com/ ) to help out some of those in the sport. So I've never tried to overstate my position, because on any day you can get your butt kicked by the most unlikely competitors, and there are some extremely outstanding people in pro sports car racing, that are even more likely to do it, The idea of the page was to help those techs in similar positions and bridge the gap between the engineer and the tire specialist.
However, someone felt it necessary to go down that road, so if anyone asks...

To whom it may concern,

My name is Billy Johnson and I am writing a letter of recommendation on behalf of Rob Edwards as a tire specialist

I was one of the main development drivers of the Ford GT LeMans car and driver of the No.66 for Ford in the World Endurance Championship and competed in the 24 Hours of LeMans from 2016-2019. Having worked with the Michelin engineers during the tire development for the Ford GT race car and road cars, I have worked with some of the best in the industry and understand the importance of keeping the tire in its temperature and pressure windows, which is crucial for the success of the performance of a car on modern racing slicks.

Having worked with Rob for an entire season as the team’s tire specialist,, he has demonstrated his knowledge and abilities as a world-class tire technician and at the level of the best that I have worked with in my career.

Rob is extremely methodical with his processes to ensure the tires are performing at their best. From monitoring weather forecasts, track, and ambient temperatures, to placing both old and new tires equally in the shade or sun to accurately translate cold pressures to the new tires.

Rob has provided detailed information to the team’s race engineer to help determine ideal starting pressures, and has been proactive in providing insight from his experience by examining tire wear and conditions that would otherwise be overlooked. This awareness has helped the team make changes that benefited the overall performance of the car.

Due to the importance tires play in the performance of a race car, Rob’s methodical processes, knowledge, and experience make him an asset to any race team.
Regards,

Billy Johnson

To whom it may concern:
Re: Rob Edwards
1234 S.W.

I have known Rob for approximately 20 years though our common endeavors in the motorsports industry. My relationship with Rob developed as he carried out his duties as a race tire specialist for major teams involved in the sport, and I carried out my duties as a Product Manager for Hoosier Racing Tire Corp. Comparatively, Rob’s abilities along with his attention to critical details, elevate his worth as a race tire specialist over most others. Rob has also demonstrated his superior abilities to positively communicate and cooperate with our service and engineering staffs in the variety of situations that occur in the process of organizing and applying race tires to the team’s needs.

Please feel free to contact me should you require any further recommendations related to Rob’s abilities.
Sincerely,

Bruce Foss

To whom it may concern, It is my pleasure to recommend Rob Edwards for a position as a race tire technician/engineer. I have had the pleasure of working with Rob during the 2021 Porsche Carrera Cup North America season. During this time, Rob has impressed me with his knowledge of tire properties, cold and hot tire pressure and tire inventory management during a race weekend. It is clear to me that Rob would be a benefit to have on a race team. In 2021, he brought his knowledge to BGB Racing in the Porsche Carrera Cup and it clearly brought results to the team. His ability to set and adjust tire pressures based on driver comments and data analysis is on par with top level IMSA racing teams. Having been involved in multiple factory race teams, I can attest to the skillset that Rob brings to a race team. If you need more specific examples or would like to discuss further, do not hesitate to contact me attaylor.jenkins@
