Special intro for Track Mustangs Online...
We at Vorshlag like to do suspension development on any new chassis, if it is something people are wanting to use for track or autocross use. The Focus RS has a mountain of hype and fans long before it came to our shores. We managed to get our hands on one the week they started hitting dealers and we took a quick look and posted once. Then we took it apart and shot a lot of pictures. We then track tested it at a local road course. The posts below are hopefully enough to sway you Mustang owners away from this hot mess. ;D
We jest, but it is a good bit less track worthy than say... a 2011-14 Mustang GT or Boss, or a 2015-up GT or GT350. These are chassis we have tracked in stock form that were faster, easier on tires, and had better power delivery than a stock Focus RS. Seriously. I don't care how many special techno words and acronyms are thrown at the Focus, it is not as suited to track abuse as any V8 Mustang built since 2005.
Our opinions are harsh, but this car really deserves them. Read on below to see what we found on the Focus, and our ideas to improve on them. The car isn't 100% hopeless and has potential, it just needs some significant changes to be reliable on a road course.
Cheers,
Terry Fair @ Vorshlag
