All my Cortex stuff is like that too. I don't know whether to put them on the car or in a display case! This picture was straight out of the box! The combination of the aluminum components of the shocks and the Cortex brackets is stunning. Makes me want to mount them on the doors where you can actually see them all the time!
Tom, this is not the site to post your porn pictures
I’m gonna need more than fancy shocks to have a fighting chance in a sea of GT350 sharks!Dangit, you can't get all these cool upgrades when I'm going to be in the same class! But seriously, those are beautiful as is the car. Can't wait to see how you like them!
Exactly, 2.25” hole saw with Seals-It two piece rubber grommet. Here’s a pic of an install by Vorshlag.I just have to ask: how do you plan to pass the remote reservoirs through the bottom to the inside of the car? From the looks of the s197 trunk, I suppose it involves a hole saw and some rubber grommets?
That’s correct - the kit that Shelby is selling uses the Cortex strut housing and shock brackets. In fact, my setup came with 2 sets of logo inserts for the adjuster knobs - one with the Shelby logo and one with the Cortex logo.I'd bet the Cortex Penske setup for the S197 is based on the Shelby/Penske package for the S550, that have strut housings suspiciously similar to Cortex units. Don't know if the S197 valving & spring rates went through the same shaker rig development Shelby did for the S550. But I figure Fillip can make a pretty good guess at what works.
Thanks for looking out Jason! I’ll make the adjustment. Shake down tomorrow at AutoClub Speedway interior course, SCCA Track Night in America.Don't put the clamp in the middle of the canister. You want to clamp on the ends, outside of the piston travel range. There is a chance of deforming the canister in the middle and causing the piston to stick.
Welcome to the club! ... but sorry about the trophy girl, she really had let herself go.AutoClub Speedway-Roval Update
Inaugural Mustang Drivers Club event held by Speed Ventures.
First session was stopped with a black flag all on the out lap - for the strangest reason I’ve seen yet:

Yep, Canadian geese! Once the geese were flushed out, session got back under way but was cut short by the delay. No real good chance at a clean flyer lap, but was happy to get a 1:50.1 for 2nd session gridding.
Sitting on grid I realized I forgot to add a jug of e85 in between sessions. It was tough to find space again in the early laps with some faster cars coming to grid late and then working their way through. Lap 3 was clean, and it was all coming together. Had a high 48 predicted for a good portion of the lap. Just needed a clean sweep through the playground and charge down to start/finish. As I pulled onto the straight, the car was surging a bit and felt down on power. With the predictive still green, I was going to blow it up trying! Crossed the line and the timer flashed 1:49.912!!! FINALLY SUB 50!!! It donned on me as I rounded 1 & 2 on cool down that with less than half a tank, sticky tires and stiffer suspension the car was experiencing fuel cut from the hard left-hander through the playground.
Unlike most other time attack competitions, the format of MDC keeps you from knowing where you stand between rounds. I was hopeful that a sub 50 would get it done for group 2, but no way to know until the awards ceremony.
Went back out for session 3. Could hear a bit of bearing growl on hard left turns on the out lap but no shaking or vibrations so decided to try a flyer. Sound continued on every left hander, so I finished the lap and brought it in. Jacked the car up, no slop in the bearing hub but called it a day. Those FP hubs have been on for 2 1/2 seasons, so time to change them. ACS is known to kill RF hubs, and I’ve turned a lot of laps on this bearing.
Well, the sub-50 held and was good for 1st place in MDC2! Really excited with the results and feeling really good with the improvements from the suspension upgrades. Can’t wait for round 2 at Streets of Willow!
