Some times wonder why Pirelli still makes tires. All the decent Michelins are a far superior tire, though I imagine Pirelli must make some pretty good slicks.
Yet they are series sponsor for Trans am....every car is on them....and from what I hear, they aren't very good.

A while back my main competitor was a fellow in a Porsche GT3, his Cup2"s corded after about 4 race days and the Pirelli truck was at the track selling tires. So he put on a set of Pirelli Corza tires and boy was he unhappy at the end of the day. His lap times went up and they started to delaminate and chucks were flying off them after two 20 min sessions. The only good part was they gave him a set of 20" tires for about US$1000. I guess that's coming from their F1 background!! Make a tire that dies quickly!!

Had a set of Corsas delaminate and chunk out on my Boss 302 LS and watched the same thing happened with them on Vipers. I watched other folks with Bosses have the same issue and frankly the plain old P Zeroes held up at the track better -- sure they were slow but they didn't separate their bands.

On another note, with the floods in Chile is our Mine affected and are you guys doing okay?

well today I went on a road trip with the local Mustang Club down to Lincoln Nebraska...to watch an SCCA Cone killer session at the site of the Nationals... our favorite Bill was the acting announcer... went for a ride as a passenger in a buddies GT350R... such an impressive car... he ended up winning his class after my ballast was removed... lol... he "claims" I helped warm up the tires evenly.. thanks John.. it was fun...

Ran another autocross on Sunday. Hair on fire day! Placed 6th over all out of 56 drivers. Winner of the day was a 2022 C8 Z51 Corvette. Only 2.3 seconds faster then myself. I won my class and left a lot of Vettes in my rear view mirror. There were three Vettes covering the first three positions, '22 C8 Z51, "09 Z06, "16 Z07. Then the pesky Honda Civic R wrapped up 4th and 5th running two drivers. Fast Course, two spots requiring 3rd gear, fun to have a course that actually requires some shifting. The one spot netted me 77 mph vs the run on the rev limiter in second gear at 66 mph. We had some nice weather and some showers and enough timing trouble to make one start looking for stop watches. The Corvette club usually runs faster course and todays just flowed well.

It was cool to have the Mustang Car Club of Omaha show up at the Nebraska Region SCCA autocross this past weekend as Rob previously noted, but what was encouraging was that most of the new Novices running were in Mustangs. Hopefully some of them will join the SCCA Region as well as TMO for all the solid info and fun camaraderie here ! Special Kudos to Auteaux who won the CAMC Class in his Black GT350R, especially since it was such a tight battle with the top spot shifting back and forth with John, a guy in a Camaro and another long time SCCA member who just acquired a Blue GT350R.

I have to throw out Kudos to my son who had the second fastest time of the day ( fastest car ) behind a shifter kart, and this old man's time was 6th fastest out of the 109 competitors.

Got #56 on track at Rockingham last weekend with Track Club USA and the SCMC guys. Drove down to Wilmington from WV on Friday to be tuned then off to the Rock for seven sessions Saturday and Sunday then 3 hours home to WV. She aint a full track car, but she is one heck of a weekend HPDE machine. Burned some fuel, GLocs, RS4s and tested the 3 degrees of camber. I am so happy to be back in a Trak Pak.

Ran two autocross events last weekend. Finished 2nd and 3rd. Beat by two Camaro's. The fastest one has had us covered all season, he has placed 1st in 6 of 8 events.
With one points event left it looks like a 2nd place finish for the year is possible if I can hold off the 3rd place guy, I have the slimmest lead, 1.065 points.

Ran Gingerman with the Mowhawk group. Was the place a majority of the testing for the Roush 427R Trak Pak took place so a bucketlist place for me. Then ran Waterford Hills with friends and got black flagged and put in the penalty box for being too loud. Fun overall but really couldnt push the car at Waterford. Gingerman is a hoot. I really enjoyed that place. Waterford is a kewl place to hang out with friends........

Ran the last autocross for the season, finished 2nd today and 2nd place for the season. It was a very slippery parking lot, many spinouts today, no spins for me but the tail was wagging the dog a few times. Car needs a bath and a good detailing and then its under the cover for a well deserved rest.

I have a few end of the year maintenance items to finish then its time to cover her up for the hibernation. New oil pressure sending unit relocation to finish, parts came in over the weekend. A good cleaning and polish and she will be ready for her winter slumber.
