Re: Member Introductions

Thanks LindsayEOD, the green hell is on the 'to do' list. We'll see if it's up for this year or the next. I'd like to have SOME routine before I tackle it... :)

Welcome to BMO and congratulations on your new Boss. You've come to the right place if you're going to track your Boss as many members have a great deal of track experience. Is your Boss a 2012 or 2013?
It is a 2013 and picked it up on Saturday. Love it so far!

Re: Member Introductions

I've been lurking a little while, and only posting a few times, so I guess it's time to make it official.

I'm Ron. I'm 41, married 19 years, have two kids (7 & 10). Took delivery of my Boss 302 late August of 2011. It only has about 8500 miles on it now, but it's my daily-driver. My town isn't real big, and I haven't taken the Boss on any roadtrips. I don't plant to, either. ;) The first year, I felt about 17 again, which helps explain why my first set of tires only lasted 7500 miles and about a year.

Stats: 2012 Boss 302 (#1626), PW, Recaros/Torsen Diff., Mats/Cover. No mods yet. Haven't even tinted the windows yet. Heck, it took a year and 7000 miles before I ever activated the TracKey. No complaints, either way! ;D

Previous Cars, in order, starting at 16yrs. old:

1979 Datsun/Nissan 280ZX (5MT) - Fun first car. Traded after 6mos for:

1983 Nissan 280ZX Turbo LE (Auto) - The Limited Edition "Disco Z", with Jade Gray paint, T-tops, Silver Leather, Turbo, Digital/Talking Dash. One of the fastest production cars of 1983, it was still fast when I got it in '87 with low miles and mint condition. Wish I had kept it, as it turned out to be pretty rare. Hell of a car for a 16yr.old!

(NEW) 1991 Mustang GT (5MT) - First new car and, boy, did I think it was fast. Lesson of TQ vs. HP came soon after when sedans started producing similar HP numbers. No mods, other than Flowmaster mufflers. ::)

(NEW) 1997 Mistubishi Eclipse GSX (5MT) - HIGHLY modified, AWD little rocket. NEVER beat, from a dig, on the street and rarely from a roll. MANY shocked Corvette and muscle cars owners, as this was years before the first Mitsu. EVO would be sold in the US. First two years were a riot, as I built it's local reputation. The last year I had it I simply couldn't get anyone to take the bait anymore and I sold it in 2000. The game changed soon after, with EVOs and so much else hitting the streets. I had the right car at the right time!

1955 Chevy Bel Air 2-Door Hardtop - 468ci BB / TH400 combo. A late 80's restoration that I freshened up. It was simply too crude for a DD, and my plans too grand ($30k more, at least), so I auctioned it on Ebay and made $14K profit, which began a snowball effect of equity in cars, that I would later use to get into cars I wouldn't otherwise be able to justify.

2003 Chevy Cavalier (5MT) - Daily-driver while I had the '55. Enough said.

(NEW) 2005 Infiniti G35 Coupe (6MT) - Ivory Pearl, black trim, with NISMO front and rear, headers, mid-pipe, intake, etc. It was a great looking car with modest and tastefull mods. Sold it to ease financial pressure of a new house at the time. Equity Snowball remained intact, and rolled it all into:

(NEW) 2008 Honda Civic Si 4-door (6MT) - My cost-saving move. Turned out to be a damn fun little car, even if a little low on power. Made up for it by being lightweight and handling great. A real go-cart. ;) Sold it back to Honda dealership when they had nothing new on their lot due to the tsunami. That replinished the Equity Snowball to $12K, which meant a new Mustang would be an easy grab. But the pigs wallowed so much that a Roush (or other) suspension upgrade was a must. The realization that the resale on a modded GT or a Roush Stage 2 were equally bad meant that the new Boss 302 was suddenly much more justified. I love it when that happens! ;D

(NEW) 2012 Boss 302 (6MT) - Daily driver!

My Motto: ENJOY THE RAT RACE

Hey guys,
My name is Bruce McKibben and I’ve been a Boss fan since May 1969 when I saw the cover of Motor Trend and this wild looking yellow Mustang. It was 3 more years until I graduated from college and found a job and a slightly used 1970 Boss within a few months of each other. Over the next 5 years I added two more Boss 302’s to my collection, as well as a ’69 CobraJet Mach I. In the mid 80’s a new family resulted in parting with the last two Boss cars and the Mach I, but fortunately I kept the first Boss. It was restored in 2008 and is very popular at local car shows.

A couple years ago I decided to have something better suited to daily driving but with some muscle to it, and I found a nice 2008 Bullitt. It’s been a fun car even with the moderate horsepower.

Finally in August of last year I had ventured by the local dealership and spotted a SBY 2012 Boss. A short test drive later I was hooked. I really wanted a Race Red model to match my 1970, and ended up having to purchase out of state. It was delivered the first week of January and has been a blast to drive on the few dry days we’ve had in Seattle lately.

The Trackey has been installed and I can’t wait until I can get it on the road course at Pacific Raceways.

Re: Member Introductions

Hello all,

My name is Brian, I'm 25 and I purchased my 2013 Grabber Blue Boss 302, #2733 back in December and just now joining the board. I received my Boss owners package yesterday, what a cool touch! I really hope to make it out to a Track Attack event.

Grabber Blue Boss Mustangs have run in the family. My dad had a 1970 Boss 429 in Grabber Blue, which was used a track car. Unfortunately, he sold it when I was a baby and regrets it every day of his life (selling the car, not having me ;D)

I currently live in Raleigh, NC with my wife and 2 beagles. I work for Cisco Systems in RTP, NC as a Partner Account Manager. I sold my 2004 Kenne Bell powered SVT Cobra in November and decided I couldn't take not having a Mustang sitting in the garage! I now have about 700 miles on the Boss, (only comes out on sunny, warm days and usually the weekend) and drive a 2006 Lincoln Zephyr as a daily driver.

Looking forward to being on the board!

Re: Member Introductions

Tom, 52 yrs old just bought a 2013 SBY Boss and have yet to drive it, still at the dealer 250 miles away where I bought it, waiting for winter to be done.

Have a 2005 Redfire V6 Coupe at home with FRPP 4:10 and traction lok, FRPP lowering springs, FRPP axle back exhaust, FRPP chrome 17" GT Rims, Nitto NT 555 Extreme Tires 50R17 R17 50R, C/S side scoops, Silverhorse Racing flush mount 1/4 window louvers, Cervini M1 hood scoop, custom made front splitter w/GT500 spoiler OEM, BAMAchips tunes, K&N Typhoon cold air and 2000 watts of Polk and Kicker amps and Polk and Kicker speakers.

Think I got everything.

Re: Member Introductions

Hello Men, My name is Darrell. I am 50 yrs old and married for 30 yrs. I live in SouthEast Texas at the Louisiana border, so if any of you are familiar with this area, you know we get the hurricanes. I bought my first Mustang ever, which happens to be a RR Boss in November, 2012. Today I turned 1000 miles on it and made an appointment with the dealer to have the redkey activated Monday. I sold a 69 Chevelle and swore I was done with hotrods and was looking for a Cadillac. That lasted aprrox 2 months and then it happened. I walked into the wrong dealership and bought my Cadillac. Lucky for me it was red and had 444 hp. My wife is still looking for her cadillac...lol Anyways, I have been on this forum for just a few months and have really enjoyed reading alot of the posts you guys have written. There is alot of knowledge on this forum and I sincerley appreciate you all sharing your knowledge....

Re: Member Introductions

Darrell, welcome and congratulations on your new Cadillac (killer). ;D

Re: Member Introductions

Time to introduce me. Andy, 53, 3 kids all thru college & outta the house, so I buy a 2013 Grabber Blue Boss 8) . The first car I bought new was an '82 Capri (Mercury's Mustang) with a 302 (still tryin' to get used to metric). After a number of lesser cars, bought an '05 Windveil Blue Mustang soon after they were released. Then came the Boss. Musician, engineer, and married 32 years.

Re: Member Introductions

Welp...First you will hafta excuse my writing style. I see no reason to sound proper when I don't talk that way. You WILL see words that are combined, cut in half, made up...its just how I talk. Now that the warning is outta the way here goes nothin.

Names Paul and I reside right smack dab in the middle of Illinois. I am 25 and a graduate of ISU with a degree in Agronomy....since I am a chatty feller like it or not you are getting the WHOLE story behind how I acquired my 2012 Competition Orange Boss 302 #343. Well my entire family is either mopar or GM...I am the sole Ford man. To impress my uncle and quite honestly long before I even caught wind of a new Boss coming out I was all over the 392 Challenger...caught wind of the Boss and target was engaged.

First dealer I went to was getting in a 2013 in GHIG...not my first choice but it was early enough if I put money down I could order it my way. Well I knew the price of the car....THEY wanted 12k over sticker...I argued with the "mustang specialist"/ sales manager for an hour on why a base Boss is no 56 THOUSAND dollar car before all the taxes and fees. He kept coming at me with its a limited run I told him if I wanted a true 56 thousand dollar car I would buy a Shelby.....but I didn't want a Shelby. He proceeded to tell me that the 2013 Boss makes 444 hp while the 2012 only has 412....and he was the resident Mustang specialist... He wasn't coming down and I wasn't paying over sticker for a nonLS car. I left. (side note My dad used to sell cars so I brought him along knowing he knows the ins and outs of car salesmen foolery...I looked at him and asked "where were YOU on that!?!" his reply? Paul ...I didn't know any of the stuff you were talking about and obviously neither did the salesmen. thanks dad...) well we went to another dealer that I had previously bought my 99 ranger from (still my DD) figuring they could get me something. Placed a tentative order with them for a 13 in SBY with recaros/TORsen. Decided to go ahead and try this little po-dunk town of Roanoke and see what snowballs chance in the furnace I had with them. Well I was chatting with some random regular salesmen when my dad and mom talked to the owner....I got done with the salesmen and the Owner was out showing my parents a 2012 GT with brembos....I started to small talk with the owner who eventually told me they sold a 2012 off the floor not 1 month prior (currently middle of May 2012) I didn't even try to hide my devistation...my dream was slipping away. We got to talking and I left such an impression he volunteered to see what favors he could call in. He had what I wanted which was a 2012 in Competition Orange with the recaro/TORsen package AND the car cover. I thought nothing of it figuring I will end up having to settle on the 2013 GHIG (not from the dealer trying to rob me...btw its still on their lot AND now priced at sticker...big surprise) well a week or so went by and having called a dozen or so dealers everyone was getting a 13 in GHIG I was slowly warming to that color but I really wanted a Boss specific color like CO or SBY....well Harlan (owner of the dealer in roanoke) calls me up stating hes found a 2012 exactly like I want....only catch its used with 1900 miles....I told him not interested I have no way of knowing how hard those 1900 miles were. He simply said he knows one other place he can call and he would call me in 2 days time. On my way home from work I had a voicemail from Harlan...in the calmest voice ever I hear "Paul Its Harlan at Geiser Ford. I got a 2012 Competition Orange with the Recaro/TORsen package and the seat cover just like you want....brand new at sticker....the catch is its in Arkansas" My truck went for 55mph to oh...roughly 80 as I called Harlan back with child like excitement Telling him put sign me up for it. Fast forward to Picking it up. Harlan offered himself to drive me down at no additional cost to me to pick the car up...later it turned out he couldn't make the trip but sent a driver down with me anyhow.

Enter June 9th 2012. My dad couldn't make it so I had my mom tag along...(being single I had to share the experience with someone) well when I ain't driving the rythmic sound of the motor and the tires on the road put my down like a bear getting shot with a tranquilizer dart. That left navigation up to the driver and my mom...we should have arrived at our destination at roughly 12:00 anywho I am coming to from a much needed nap (didn't/couldn't sleep a wink the night before like a 7yr old on christmas eve) and I look up and I see our exit...then I see us go PAST our exit...then I hear...oops I think we missed our exit.....I nearly died inside....40 miles out of the way later (20miles each way and a toll booth to get turned around) I think we finally arrived little before 2pm. I strolled inside like I owned the place approached a tall counter and reported that I was here to pick up a Boss 302. The sales guy went and got the keys to the car and had me sign a slip of paper saying I picked it up. Walked out the back door there it was. So perfect so beautiful....so full of stickers!! I turned to the guy and asked How on earth I was posed to drive with windows full of stickers and more importantly why they were still on the car...He looked at me like I had leprosy and stated "you will do that yourself when you deliver it to the owner..." I looked him square in the eye pointed at myself with BOTH thumbs and said "I AM the owner" His eyes got huge apologies started flying and he disappeared...upon his return he had 5 others with him taking stickers off plastic installing my floor mats cleaning my windows meanwhile I stand there aggitated that I am holding the key to my car and STILL not driving it. That was when some mom and her 16 year old son walked up checkin out the ruckus. HE liked the car his MOM was like ...oh honey...you don't want THAT...thats just a low grade mustang its not shelby.....As I opened my mouth to correct her the owner of this dealership walks up and corrects her FOR me (prolly seen the flames shooting from my eyes and wanted to save a potential sale) he then walked over and began to converse with me stating that his was the only rear end to touch the seat of the car once delivered from the factory because he knows what kind of special car it is. He drove it off the truck into the shop for detailing then HE again drove it from the shop to the show room floor (where they had another 2012 Boss Red with White and 3ish shelbys...) Thats when I opened the hood to find what production number I had and seen....#343...I nearly DIED I looked at him and said did you know it was that low... he said "sure did, I was just curious if YOU knew your stuff. If you looked for it instead of asking it was safe to assume you know cars and the car was going to a worthy owner" This guy knew how to make a man cry...at this point I was soooo itchy to get in and drive it I just got in it. I was past waiting and started the car moved it the whole 17.37432ft to the car I was delivered in to transfer my stuff over and roar off the the nearest Fuel station....which a whopping 1.25 gallons in the tank IF that....in hindsight I wish I woulda asked for a tank of gas...and yes I took a picture of the first ever Fillup. Twas a kodak moment as they say. Took the guy that drove us down for a quick joy ride. HE always wanted an original (grew up in that era) and could't believe he had set eyes on a new one....HE was more loud and excited about picking up the car than I appeared to be (I had to keep myself under control so as to not squeal like a little girl) first acceleration test was just a quick jaunt to 60 much to the enjoyment and laughter and repeated (this thing is a BEAST) comments from the nice man that drove us down to pick up my dream. (boy...I am long winded)

Cut to the trip home got lost...twice thanks to terrible road labeling in Arkansas...if you live there I would normally apologize but seriously...I can read and twice on a NORTH BOUND ROAD I ended up heading west first then east....BUT had it not been for the eastward heading I woulda never taken a shortcut through a state park up through mountains and nothing but twisty roads. Best 3 hour detour EVER....cept my mom getting mad for me "driving too fast" psh is what I say to that. Got some great pics with mountains in the background and the whole 10 yards...not 9 yards...9 yards means you didn't get a first down. Gotta get that 10th yard!

Fast forward to arriving in Illinois for my Grandmas birthday and the unveiling of my NEW Boss 302 to the family that hates Ford and my much treasured Uncle Kenny that for years built race engines cars and raced on ovals dirt and the stip and was quite successful still has motors out there he designed and built by hand that are still winning races. Post grandmas brunch the family came out to me MY new love. Thats right. LOVE. Anywho as my uncle Kenny starts to examine the Boss bad knees and all (we are at a relatively rich people place usual cars in the lot are Cadillacs, Vettes, Porsche) a Porsche Carrera pulls into the lot and like ANY real car guy park in the boonies on an island to avoid dings and such. The whole time he is parking he is staring at the Boss me of course smiling. I told my uncle he was staring his reply "like hell! thats an 80k car..THIS this is just a mustang he doesn't care about some Ford Mustang" I betcha 10 bucks he heads straight for us "deal" my uncle replies. Mr. Porsche parks his ride wastes no time getting out (actually looked slightly hurried) heads straight towards us shuts door and shoots over his should with the key to lock doors all in one smooth motion (he has practiced this) I turn to my uncle and he says "wouldja look at ...here he comes after all" Porsche says "tell me thats what I think it is. PLEASE be an actual BOSS 302" Sure is!! Me and him talked for a good 90 minutes if not longer as he ooed and ahhed at the car couldn't believe the production number. Asked how on earth I got my hands on one. He called all over looking for one either base or LS and he said they all wanted 10-20k over sticker for both models which he wasn't willing to pay. How the auto industry was not ready I don't care who you are. NOT ready for a car like this especially at THAT price. He smiled and asked how many M3 owners I have pissed off today. I hope to run into him at the track over the summer or at least in town. Nice guy.

That my friends and fellow owners is how I acquired my 2012 Competition Orange Boss 302. Sorry for the lenthy story....but what can ya do?

Re: Member Introductions

Lol, sounds like you had fun. Good story but the orange txt is really hard to read. Congrats on your new Boss. I have #256 in RR, love it.

If I had a dollar for every time a person asked what it was or looked it up....I would be retired haha. Thanks for reading the lengthy story though AND taking time to look up Agronomy.
